Strengthening Institutional Ownership Through On-Site Exploration
In early December 2025, national and local authorities carried out a field visit within Hinboun Geopark, focusing on several geosites located in Khounkham District.
This visit aimed to strengthen institutional understanding of the territory’s geological value and to connect strategic planning with on-the-ground realities. By visiting key geosites, authorities were able to better appreciate the diversity of landscapes, geological features, and their links with local livelihoods.
The field visit also provided an opportunity to discuss site management challenges, conservation needs, and future opportunities for education and sustainable tourism within the Geopark framework.
Such on-site engagement is essential to ensure informed decision-making and long-term commitment from institutions involved in the development of the Hinboun Geopark.
